President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issued an order on Wednesday capping the price of imported rice at 50 pesos ($0.81) per kg to rein in rising costs of the staple.

The price ceiling, which will be in force for 30 days unless lifted earlier, applies nationwide, according to the president’s executive order.
