Reports of a man allegedly being attacked by four individuals for repeatedly spoiling the superhero film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” inside a cinema have generated buzz on social media.

A news outlet reported on Monday, August 3, that a male moviegoer was beaten by a group of four friends who became irritated with their seatmate for repeatedly revealing what would happen in the movie.

The man was reportedly telling his companion details of the film during the screening.

Other foreign news outlets reported that he had already watched the movie once and was narrating the plot to his companion.

“He had already watched the movie once and had come to watch it again with her. While watching, he kept telling her the story and giving spoilers about what would happen in the next scenes,” a social media user wrote.

“The excitement of the four friends sitting beside them was getting ruined because the boy kept giving spoilers about what was going to happen next,” the online user added.

“Eventually, the four friends got into an argument with him right inside the cinema hall. The fight escalated, and they started hitting each other, creating complete chaos throughout the theater,” the post said.

There were no further details on where the incident took place, although it appeared to have occurred outside the Philippines.

Nevertheless, the report caught the attention of Filipinos, who helped “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” break Philippine box office records during its first five days in cinemas.

A spoiler refers to information about a movie or television series that reveals key plot details and may ruin a viewer’s sense of surprise or suspense.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” reportedly recorded the biggest post-pandemic opening weekend in the Philippines, earning more than half a billion pesos from July 29 to Aug. 2.

Set four years after “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” the superhero film follows Peter Parker as he deals with the aftermath of Doctor Strange’s spell, which erased the world’s memory of his identity.
