LAOAG CITY, Philippines — Employees of the Marcos, Ilocos Norte municipal government were barred from their offices as they reported to work Friday morning because of a bomb threat.

Police did not say where the threat came from but a bomb squad was already inspecting the municipal building before local government workers could time in for work.

Town employees were advised to remain outside the town hall until authorities completed their search of the building.

Marcos lost its mayor, Arsenio Agustin, 61, when he was shot dead on June 3. A municipal employee also died in the incident.

On April 4, Vice Mayor Jessie Ermitanio survived an ambush that killed his driver and left two town employees wounded.
