MANILA – Tropical storm Odette, which is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility later on Saturday (Oct. 14), has maintained its strength and remained almost stationary the past six hours, spawning rains in a big part of Luzon, weather bureau PAGASA said.

Moderate to occasionally heavy rains are expected over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Western Visayas, PAGASA said in a severe weather bulletin issued 5 a.m Saturday.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals elsewhere are now lifted, but Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over Pangasinan. This means: very light or no damage to high-risk structures is possible, light damage to medium to low risk structures, and slight damage to some houses of very light materials or makeshift structures in exposed communities.

Some banana plants may be tilted, and twigs of small trees may be broken. Rice crops, however, may suffer significant damage when it is in its flowering stage.

PAGASA said sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, the western seaboard of Central Luzon and the western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon due to “Odette”.
