The trailer of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Deadma Walking” premiered online Saturday night and went viral immediately, amassing a combined 2 million views in a little over 24 hours.

Based on the Palanca Award-winning screenplay by Eric Cabahug, the black comedy stars Joross Gamboa as a terminally ill gay businessman who fakes his own funeral in connivance with his flamboyant gay best friend, played by Edgar Allan Guzman.

“Deadma Walking” is sure to invite comparisons to last year’s MMFF box office champ “Die Beautiful,” which was also a black comedy that highlighted the deep friendship of two cross-dressers.

Produced by T-Rex Entertainment, the movie marks the directorial debut of Julius Alfonso and features cameos by several A-list stars led by Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, and Eugene Domingo.
