There are plenty of reasons why Resorts World Manila’s production of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” was one of the most talked about live shows in the metropolis when it had its first run last October.
The British family musical based on the 1968 film starring Dick Van Dyke which in turn was adapted from the 1964 book by James Bond author Ian Fleming simply is one of those adaptations that translate well from the big screen to the performing stage.
With a terrific cast, spectacular production numbers, a cartoonish set most likely inspired by Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera cartoons, the sprawling stage of the Newport Performing Arts Theater that lends itself well to its cinematic sensibilities and yes, that flying car, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” must be seen at least once to savor its “fantasmagorical” spectacle.
The 8th musical production of the Newport Performing Arts Theater through Full House Theater Company will have its repeat run from February 22 to March 25 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. For ticket information, visit www.ticketworld.com.ph.
