November 27, 2017—Rachel Peters, the Philippines’ bet to the Miss Universe 2017 contest, ended her journey in the competition after being excluded in the Top five contenders.
While Filipinos, including celebrities and beauty queens, expressed disappointment through social media posts, they also extended their gratitude to the 26-year-old beauty queen for making the country proud. At the same time, they cheered for their other favorite contenders, including newly crowned Miss Universe, 22-year-old Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa.
Here are some of their thoughts:
The Universe is not livelier with you as a shining star. More than your poise and beauty, you are a cut above the rest with your grace and elegance that exemplifies a true woman of substance and an inspiring Filipina. We are proud to be a part of your journey.#Philippines pic.twitter.com/2LZF52tOfk
