Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is showing signs of progress with the return of seven-foot slotman Greg Slaughter and the Gin Kings will have a chance of moving up with a win against the hapless Kia Picanto on Wednesday.

But Cone wants his team to avoid their rivals for granted.

“We can’t make the mistake of looking past Kia. They have pulled off some really big upsets and they are well-coached,” Cone told InterAksyon.

Ginebra is coming off a solid 124-108 win over GlobalPort last Sunday, and the winningest coach in league history wants his team to still perform at the highest level while adjusting to Slaughter’s presence.

Slaughter has been impressive in his PBA comeback one year after being sidelined by a knee injury. He’s averaging 16.5 points and 11 rebounds so far in the tournament.

“We felt we figured some things out in our last game and we’re hoping to follow it up with a solid performance. We’re hoping that every day we’re improving as a team and continuing to adjust to Greg’s presence,” added Cone.
