“The tradition continues.”

Words and topics that are expected to make an appearance at President Rodrigo Duterte‘s final State of the Nation Address surfaced on social media as a guide for those who want to have “drinking games” during the event.

The UP Association of Political Science Majors, a student organization based in the University of the Philippines-Diliman, shared a list of instances they expect would surface on the chief executive’s sixth SONA on Monday afternoon.

Adult Filipinos are invited to “take a shot” if Duterte “curses,” “makes inappropriate jokes” and whenever they cannot understand him and needed a “subtitle,” among others.

They’re also suggested to “drink” if the president refers to “China as a friend,” “every time he brings up his critics” and “every time he praises one of his allies.”

Viewers are likewise suggested to “down a bottle” if Duterte arrives late or says he’ll run for vice president.

The organization, of course, also reminds participants to “drink responsibly.”

Parody account Malacañang Events and Catering Services likewise released its own version and invited viewers to “take a shot” whenever Duterte mentions the coronavirus, drugs or publicly declares that he is “tired.”

Filipinos are then suggested to “take a drink” if they hear him talk about China, Chinese President Xi Jinping, ABS-CBN, the West Philippine Sea and communists.

They are then invited to finish their drink if Duterte talks about Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, the 2022 national elections, boxer-senator Manny Pacquiao, the Manila Bay and retired Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.

“Drinking games” have become a sort of tradition as friends and family watch Duterte deliver his SONA. Some say this is for them to “tolerate” the speech while others simply want to make the viewing more fun or spontaneous for them.
