The flagship branch of the specialty store Hobbes and Landes will permanently close its doors soon and Filipinos are reminiscing their favorite moments and memories involving the shop.

The Facebook page of the store’s main branch issued an advisory on Tuesday where it said that its operations at Bonifacio High Street in Taguig City will cease beginning February 2022.

“It has become unfeasible for us to keep the business running in these difficult times. Customers who still have Gift Certificates can still redeem until January 31, 2022,” it said.

“Thank you for your support and patronage. It has been a great almost 20 years since we started back in July 2002. Stay safe and healthy,” it added.

Hobbes and Landes was born “out of love for board games.”

According to its profile, the Pesengco and Sun families started the small specialty store in July 2002.

Its vision is to become “the place and destination for families of all ages who love nothing more than simply gathering together for wholesome fun.”

“We strive to promote the lifestyle and values of learning, caring, relationship-building and inspiration through fun and discovery,” its profile added.

The shop sells puzzles, toys, collectibles, crafting kits, pet supplies and other assorted items for family use.

The pending closure of its flagship store saddened its patrons who reminisced their favorite moments and memories involving the specialty shop.

“We will miss you Hobbes and Landes BHS! Thank you for hosting my polymer clay workshops!” a Facebook user said in the comments of the store’s advisory.

“Man, my barkada and I forged our friendship in Hobbes and Landes waaaaay back in high school. So sad to see the old place go,” another online user commented.

“Oh noes. Dito ko na bili ‘yung first Warhammer 6th (edition) starter kit ko,” a different Filipino wrote.

“I remember in around 2007-2009, we used to buy here frozen yogurts. Memories,” recalled another Facebook user.

“This is where we bought our first Monopoly board game years ago,” a different online user shared.

Meanwhile, a netizen claimed in the comments that Hobbes and Landes’ Greenbelt 5 and Rockwell Powerplant branches have already been closed.

The specialty store still has another branch at Shangri-la Plaza Mall, which is its licensee branch.

Patrons can also shop online through their website or their official Shopee and Lazada stores.
