‘This is it!’: Pinoys stoked for musical adaptation of ‘One More Chance’

Heart emojis and several tags flooded the comments section of a Facebook post announcing the play dates of the musical adaptation of the Star Cinema cult classic film “One More Chance.”

The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) is staging the musical version of the 2007 blockbuster movie starring John Lloyd Cruz as Popoy and Bea Alonzo as Basha.

The musical will feature songs from the award-winning folk-pop band Ben&Ben famous for their melodious love songs and sentimental ballads.

It will be staged from April 12 to June 16, 2024 at the PETA Theater Center in Quezon City.

Credit card holders of Metrobank, the official co-presenter of the musical, can get first access to the tickets from February 6 to 8 through an exclusive pre-sale treat via TicketWorld.com.ph.

Those who want to avail of the pre-sale treat must enter the first six digits of their card as the passcode. Each cardholder can enjoy a maximum of four tickets per transaction.

Non-cardholders can also enjoy the exclusive promo by going to any Metrobank branch and applying for a credit card before the pre-sale.

PETA’s post about the show dates of the musical has earned 18,000 likes and love reactions, 3,100 comments and 11,000 shares so far.

The comments section was filled with heart emojis and people tagging their friends to make them aware of the musical.

“Nood tayo [nito] sa Wedding Anniversary natin, mommy,” a Facebook user wrote in the comments, tagging someone.

“Huhu, can’t wait,” another user commented with emojis of sparkles and a heart.

“Waaaahhhhh!!! Will definitely not miss this!!” exclaimed a different Pinoy.

“This is it!! Let’s watch, ahh!!!” another Filipino commented, tagging a friend.

“One More Chance” is one of the highest-grossing films at the box office.

The romance movie bagged multiple awards like the Box-Office King and Box-Office Queen for John Lloyd and Bea, respectively, in the 38th GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards, Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role (Drama) for John Lloyd in the 5th ENPRESS Golden Screen Awards and Movie of the Year in the 24th PMPC Star Awards for Movies, among others.

The film tells the story of college sweethearts Popoy and Basha on the verge of a breakup after five years of being together.

“One More Chance” unfolds the anatomy of a breakup and dissects the journey of two lovers who are going through the difficult decision of going their separate ways.

The film is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

It has since spawned memes out of its most memorable lines like “She loved me at my worst. You had me at my best, but binalewala mo lang ang lahat… And you chose to break my heart” and “Kasi ang totoo, umaasa pa rin akong sabihin mo sana ako pa rin. Ako na lang. Ako na lang ulit.”
