President Rodrigo Duterte met a few members of his Cabinet on Tuesday afternoon for a meeting, among which was Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon.
In the brief audience with the President, Faeldon was supposed to have been told to keep going and do his job at the Bureau of Customs.
This was in the light of a brewing controversy where lawmakers in the House of Representatives had ganged up on Faeldon over the recent discovery that some PhP6.4 billion worth of crystal meth or shabu slipped past the agency and found its way to a warehouse in Valenzuela City.
Called to the meeting in Malacañang were Faeldon, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez, and Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Caesar Dulay. Also present in the meeting was Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
According to Secretary Dominguez, “the Chief Executive has expressed his full confidence in Commissioner Faeldon and told him to focus on serving the country.”
