President Rodrigo Duterte looks forward to an unprecedented visit to Russia, not just in terms of value for the country in terms of trade and investments, but also to include the possible procurement of armaments, helicopters and war materiel for the defense modernization program.
“Russia is a country that we must work with. There are opportunities for cooperation that cannot be ignored, with its geographic footprint in the Asia-Pacific Region, and its strategic interest in the region, a positive engagement is required to find areas of synergy,” President Duterte said prior to his departure.
Included in his entourage are many members of his Cabinet, as well as political allies and members of the House of Representatives.
