It has been 40 years since “Voltes V” captured the imagination of young televiewers back in the late 1970s.

The Japanese anime series about a powerful super robot operated by four headstrong teenagers and a young boy barely in fourth grade is one of the forerunners of the shape-shifting Transformers TV show and toy collection introduced by Hasbro during the mid-’80s.

Long after “Voltes V” went off the air, its popularity never really waned not only among its original fans but also among the subsequent generation of anime lovers. Over the years, Voltes V action figures and other related toys became hot items among fans and toy collectors in general.

Although the series was never revived or rebooted, “Voltes V” has returned to free TV from time to time and the dubbing of the show has been updated on at least a couple of occasions.

Giordano also recently launched its Voltes V 40th Anniversary collection and are reportedly selling like the proverbial hotcakes. Available in men’s, women’s and junior printed t-shirts, men’s polo, men’s embroidered tee, and men’s hooded cotton jacket, fans can get their Voltes V fix at the nearest Giordano store or www.giordano.ph for those who prefer to shop online.
