The iconic 90’s love team of veteran artists Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin will return in an upcoming movie based as announced in their social media posts on March 12.
Magdangal and Agustin were the stars of the popular 1998 romantic flick “Labs Kita…Okey Ka Lang?” where they played two best friends Ned and Bujoy who fell in love with each other.
There are not much details revealed in their posts. However, they may be hinting at reprising their roles because the captions in their posts used the hashtags #Bestfriendmolangako and #MarJoXP8SJ.
“Such a beautiful day! Thank you sa mga kasama kong nagdadasal matuloy to,” Agustin said in the caption.
Magdangal also said on Instagram: “Oh yes totoo na ito! Ituloy na natin labtim.”
They’ll be working with Project 8 corner San Joaquin Projects, the same production studio behind popular independent films “That Thing Called Tadhana” and “Alone/Together.”
Well-known directors Antoinette Jadaone and Dan Villegas, producer Reign Anne de Guzman and writer Bibeth Orteza are also part of the production team.
Agustin and Magdangal also starred as a couple in popular 90’s movies “Gimik,” “Kung Ayaw Mo Huwag Mo,” “Flames: The Movie,” and “Hey Babe!”
In November 2018, Magdangal said that she and Agustin have long planned on a possible reunion movie.
“Actually matagal na kaming nagko-contact-an ni Marvin pero hindi lang talaga kami nabibigyan ng chance maupo tapos pag-usapan,” she said in ABS-CBN’s “Magandang Buhay.”
“Two months ago, galing siya sa ibang bansa, sabi niya ‘yun daw ‘yung aasikasuhin niya hanggang 2019 dahil gusto talaga namin gumawa ng project na involved talaga kami,” she added.
The TV personality also hoped it would be a movie to continue the story of Ned and Bujoy and both of them will be “hands-on” with the production.
“Gusto namin pelikula eh. Either co-prod or talagang hands on kami dun sa project, dun sa istorya, sa lahat. Basta gusto namin something na konektado sa ‘Labs Kita, Okay Ka Lang?’ Kasi 20 years na ‘yung pelikulang ‘yun eh. So anong nangyari kay Ned at Bujoy talaga, di ba?” Magdangal said.
Magdangal and Agustin were considered popular Filipino cultural icons throughout their career in the entertainment industry.
Magdangal became known as an award-winning singer and TV host-performers of several programs such as “ASAP,” “SOP” and “Ang TV”
Agustin, meanwhile, became a celebrated actor and also hosted variety shows such as “Dear Friend” and “Outrageous and Courageous” in 2005.
