After a month, the local government of Manila, under the leadership of Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, has finally recovered the Facebook page of its public information office.
“The Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) Facebook page has been fully recovered and is now operational. It is currently managed by the newly formed MPIO team, headed by City Information Officer E-jhay Clamor Talagtag,” the page said in an announcement.
Last month, Moreno said they would file charges against individuals who failed to turn over the page after the previous administration’s term ended. It was controlled by the city employees under former Mayor Honey Lacuña.

Last July 17, the city chief executive also announced that a new Facebook page has been created, claiming the old MPIO page was under “hostage.”

The new page created was the City Government of Manila, which has so far garnered 282,000 followers and 167,000 likes.
“Welcome to the official gazette of the City Government of Manila, managed by the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO),” the created page read.
Meanwhile, the old MPIO page, which was reclaimed by the current LGU admin, was created on May 31, 2019. It currently has 1.3 million followers.
The current MPIO said the official page will post announcements, news and important information about the nation’s capital.
“The MPIO team remains committed to providing timely, accurate, and transparent updates to better serve Manileños and the Filipino people,” the MPIO’s post read.
