The NLEX Road Warriors gave up 17 three-pointers in a 107-106 loss to the Blackwater Elite on Friday in the Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup, and coach Yeng Guiao had one simple description to describe his opponent’s hot shooting night.

“Parang nakalaban namin yung Korea,” Guiao said, referring to the Koreans’ sizzling performance against Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA Asia Cup.

The Elite’s 17 three-point shots were the most they made in their franchise history. They came mostly from guards Roi Sumang, Mike Digregorio and import Henry Walker.

“It happens every once in awhile. Its called playing in the zone. It’s very difficult to counter something like that because they can’t seem to do anything wrong,” Guiao said.

But Guiao still found some silver lining despite the defeat.

“The best you can do is try to stay close and hope you can weather the storm. We actually had a chance to win the game but we couldnt get a break in the end. It’s still a consolation for me that they have to make 17 three-point shots to beat us by one point,” he said.
