Since news of Billy Crawford and Coleen Garcia’s engagement broke in December 2016, the couple has been mum on the details of their forthcoming wedding.
However, Crawford did admit that both he and his fiancé are involved in planning the wedding, despite their equally busy schedules.
“Both of us are hands-on with the preparations for the wedding. May oras pa naman kami. Day by day we tackle certain things na kailangan namin pag-usapan. Kailangan namin mag-decide ng venue, or whatever, details, mga ganun,” Billy explained in an interview during the recent press event that introduced him as the celebrity endorser of Burger King’s 4-Cheese Whopper.
Billy also said that the wedding would most likely be intimate, but it probably be won’t be too exclusive considering the number of people that they want to invite.
“We can’t be too intimate, kasi of course may magtatampo. I mean, this wedding, we’re trying to focus on us. It’s about Coleen and me. So we’re trying the best we can to really invite the people that, you know, were there from the start of our relationship. Yun yung pinaka-importante dun, eh,” Billy said.
“The people who believed in us, the people who supported us, the people who guided us in every way,” he added.
Billy also expressed that he sees no reason why marriage would get in the way of their respective careers. It will, however, be a reason for them to spend more time with each other; even more than they spend together as “It’s Showtime” hosts and as boyfriend-girlfriend.
“I don’t think so…bilang host naman, I’ve been hosting for the past few years and it’s pretty stable naman, it’s pretty fun. I get to be tied, I get to be married to Colleen,” he said.
Even as wedding plans are well underway and Billy is confident that he and Coleen have known each other more than sufficiently, he admits that he still learns a lot from his fiancé despite being 10 years her senior; and acknowledges that there will still be adjustments once they get married.
He explains, “I’m sure there will be moments that we will be surprised, that we will be discovering about each other, pero as of now, hindi kami yung stagnant. We’ve always learned from each other. I learn a lot from her actually. It’s quite sad because I’m 10 years older, pero mas marami pa rin akong natututunan sa kanya, sa mas bata. But it’s a good thing ‘cause I’m learning. It’s definitely a learning experience.
“I guess we will see na lang. I think anybody that gets married, yung adjustment will be drastic, and a big change din kasi you have to think about joining everything. Finances. Properties. You think about businesses. It’s all one big thing. Pero us kasi, even now pa lang, we’re always talking about what we need to do, how we need to save, what we need. Para in the future, gusto kong comfortable yung family namin.”
When asked whether he and Coleen are considering having kids, Billy’s immediate answer was in the affirmative. But he was quick to clarify that they don’t intent to conceive immediately after the wedding.
“Probably won’t be in the first year. We want to weigh it out muna because we want to enjoy each other’s company. When you get married, you rush into that. Coleen’s only 24. You know what I’m saying? She has many years ahead of her. And I want her to experience all her dreams. Gusto kong matupad niya muna bago magkaroon kami ng pamilya. When I do have a family with Colleen, when we do, we want to focus naman everything on our kids,” Billy explained.
Billy also admitted that he would love to have a son as a first-born, but knowing the difficulties of child-bearing, he doesn’t really have a strict preference.
“Kung ano na lang ang ibigay ng Diyos sa amin, as long as healthy yung baby. Okay na kami,” Billy said.
What Billy is certain of at this point, is that Coleen truly is “the one’ for him.
“It’s something that you don’t expect; it’s something that you just feel. Hindi mo naman pwedeng pwershan na ‘she’s the one’ or ‘he’s the one.’ You can look at it that way. Pwede kang managarap. But at the end of the day. It’s what you feel in your heart. You just have to go with your heart.”
“I just thank God for the blessing that he gave me, and that is Coleen,” he said.
