Sam Ajdani now ready for acting opportunities

When he was the country’s bet for the Mr. World male pageant last year, Sam Ajdani was asked if he would consider pursuing a career in showbiz.

At the time, the Filipino-Persian model said that while he had had his fair share of the limelight including some modeling and hosting stints here and there, he did not see acting as part of his immediate plans.

“I’m not a good actor so showbiz is not my thing,” he declared.

A year later, it looks like Sam has a change of heart. Early this year, Sam surprised a lot of people when he made his acting debut with a pivotal role in the weekly afternoon drama anthology “Karelasyon.”

In the episode, “Pretenders,” a boy and a girl (Kristoffer Martin and Joyce Ching) meet in a social networking site but each pretended to be someone else as they both used the photos of their more attractive friends in their respective profiles.

Sam played the role of the “fantasy” alter ego of Kristoffer’s character.

“It was a great experience. Acting is not easy. It is a lot of hard work and involves long hours. But after doing it, I now appreciate what actors do even more,” Sam told InterAksyon in an interview following the recent launch of Watsons #GetActive fitness campaign.

Admitting that he’s now very open to more acting opportunities, Sam said he is still working on his confidence in front of the camera.

“I know I will be needing it a lot. I’m also working on my speech and delivery so I can connect with my audience in a more meaningful way,” he noted.

One of the ways Sam continues to develop his confidence is through his own YouTube channel which is about fitness and lifestyle. An aspiring fitness trainer himself, his mostly instructional videos include tips on burning fat and getting abs in five minutes.

Sam’s passion for fitness is a big reason for his involvement in Watsons #GetActive campaign.

During the event, Sam noted how small, mundane activities such as drinking more water, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, taking deep breaths in between work e-mails, walking from one building to another instead of riding a car or taxi if it’s just in the same area, walking your dog during weekends, and smiling more often can go a long way in maintaining one’s good health.

“I believe it is important to get active, period. And as we progress and science is progressing this is becoming more and more of a fact. I do it because I value my God-given health first, and second my work pushes me to be active even more which is always a good thing,” he pointed out.

But while Sam admits that he works out five to six times a week with a regimen that includes lifting weights, boxing, running, CrossFit and playing football, not everyone needs to follow a similar program to remaining healthy.

“The main thing is to be active and have movement during the day,” he quipped.
