Food containers for “Sharonians” who love takeaways during family reunions are among IKEA Philippines’ latest offerings for its Christmas campaign.
The furniture giant on October 5 officially launched its annual Christmas Shop in its physical store in Pasay City. The Christmas Shop features the brand’s latest offerings in food and furniture to celebrate the coming holidays.

During the launch, an IKEA Philippines staff personnel introduced the IKEA 365+ food containers as a suitable solution for taking home food during family gatherings.
“During this season, as we’ve mentioned earlier [in the program], we love to eat. There’s definitely leftover food. So, it’s good to have… our must-have during this season is our IKEA 365 food containers,” the staff said.
These food containers also come in different materials — tempered glass silicone, bamboo and plastic.
On IKEA Philippines’ website, the container was promoted to have a snap-and-lock lid that prevents leakage of food content.
“The snap-and-lock lid prevents leakage and protects the contents from frost damage, making it ideal for both transporting food and storing leftovers,” the description reads.
This item, therefore, can be used not only for storing leftovers but also for transporting food safely and securely.
It is common in social gatherings to see guests bringing home excess food from the buffet table.
Local internet culture recently transformed this practice into memes and TikTok videos featuring megastar Sharon Cuneta.
Filipinos who often pack and take home food from events and parties are called “Sharonians”, while the act of packing and taking from parties home is called “mag-Sharon.”
The puns in Sharon’s name cleverly come from her hit song “Bituin Walang Ningning” where part of the lyrics reads “balutin mo ako.” This phrase translates to “wrap me” or “cover me” in English. People “wrap and cover” food when taking it home.
