National team standout Kiefer Ravena officially declared for the 2017 PBA Draft on Monday, easily making him a possible top pick in the annual event.

The former UAAP MVP is joining the pros two years after playing his last season at Ateneo. During that time, he had been reluctant about entering the draft and instead chose to explore opportunities in the United States and play for clubs outside the PBA.

Despite the layoff, there’s little doubt that the 23-year-old guard is still one of the highly touted prospects in the upcoming draft slated this month. He showed his maturity as an all-around guard while representing the country in a couple of international tournaments this year.

In the recently concluded FIBA Asia Champions Cup, Ravena emerged as the top scorer for Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas, averaging 20.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists in a tournament that featured some of the continent’s best clubs.

Ravena joins Gilas Pilipinas center Christian Standhardinger and former La Salle star Jeron Teng as the top draft applicants this year. Kia holds the No.1 pick, while NLEX and Blackwater owns the No.2 and No.3 picks, respectively.
