Journeymen KG Canaleta and Rey Guevarra rebooted their respective careers this season after inking contracts with new teams.
Canaleta joined Meralco in a one-conference deal worth P350,000 a month, while Guevarra signed up with Phoenix to reunite with coach Louie Alas who handled him at Letran during his NCAA days.
“They were given short-term deals, but they are good deals,” said their agent Danny Espiritu who manages more than 80 players.
Canaleta is one of Meralco’s newest acquisitions this season as the Bolts upgraded their bench following a finals run in the Governors’ Cup last season.
Himself also a former skam dunk king, Guevarra is hoping to finally find a home in Phoenix after bouncing in and out of the league.
A third overall draft pick in 2010, the 6-foot-3 athletic swingman from Letran, was one among the three traded to Petron Blaze in 2011 where he won a championship.
