A local bookstore has taken the word “bookworm” quite literally in its latest back-to-school ad.
A video advertisement of National Bookstore titled “Ang Lihim Ni Mama” gained traction on Facebook.
It featured a mother and son shopping for school supplies.
In the ad, the mother can be spotted distracted by the rows of books and runs away from her child.
Fascinated by the books on display, the mother gruesomely turns into a bookworm, shocking the viewers with the humoristic wordplay.
The NBS ad has so far garnered nearly 2.1 million views, more than 15,000 reactions and over 630 comments on Facebook.
This odd video advertisement piqued the interest of several online users who joked about the “bookworm.”
“[The worm is] NBS’ new mascot!” a Facebook user commented.
“Heidi Klum ang peg ni mader (mother),” another online user said, pointing out the bookworm’s similarity to the German-American supermodel’s Halloween costume back in 2022.
“Don’t judge me. I’m not a book. I’m a bookworm,” another Facebook user said in jest.
What’s new?
The NBS ad is for the promotion of its its back-to-school offerings which include lowest-priced stationery and classroom essentials of its house brand, Best Buy.
The homegrown bookshop has also made shopping convenient through its online presence. Customers can shop in the comfort of their homes by ordering books or school materials online. Patrons can shop through their official website or on Lazada, Shopee, TikTok and Zalora.
Besides buying all the learning necessities, parents, students and teachers can also make their purchasing fun with NBS’ “Panalo balik ‘Skwela Mo” raffle promo. The bookstore announced that it will pick 17 lucky winners nationwide to receive over P1.7 million worth of prizes.
Customers can enter the raffle contest by becoming a Laking National QR member, which also allows them to receive exclusive benefits at NBS.
Registered members will have Sulit Coins which they can use on any NBS branches like the NBS Express, Art Bar or Kids Ink.
The promo will run throughout the whole month of July until August 30. More details will be made available via NBS Facebook page.
