Creamline Cool Smashers and Choco Mucho Flying Titans players received health coverage packages from an insurance company, securing them life protection and other benefits.

Allianz PNB Life (AZPNBL) gifted the two professional volleyball teams the eAZy Health insurance plan, which covers most of their health concerns as athletes.

“The Allianz commitment to supporting athletes has a long-term point of view, not only while they are still playing professionally, but also helping them secure their future when they retire as professional athletes,” AZPNBL president Joe Gross said.

“This plan was specifically chosen for the Creamline Cool Smashers and Choco Mucho Flying Titans because it assures them that health issues that may arise from their profession are covered, and at the same time they have life protection,” he added.

The package includes life insurance coverage, protection against critical illnesses, accidents, and disabilities, and access to AZPNBL Healthbox benefits.

Plan holders could avail discounts, free services, and others from AZPNBL’s health, lifestyle, and wellness partners nationwide, including Anytime Fitness, Ideal Vision Center, and Hi-Precision Diagnostics, under AZPNBL Healthbox

Meanwhile, players who made no claims from the insurance plan after five years would receive 30% cashback of the total premiums.

They would also be assisted by Allianz financial advisors in their financial management.

‘Reassuring’ health plan

Managers of both volleyball teams said the health insurance would assist their players in health security and finances.

Creamline Cool Smashers team manager Alandel Acero said the “generous contribution” of the insurance firm lessened the trouble of the players and coaches in securing life protection.

“Through this partnership, coaches and players can now focus on what matters to them—developing the athletes and playing at their best,” he said.

According to Rollie Delfino, Choco Mucho Flying Titans’ team manager, most players were already planning for their financial affairs in the future.

“Allianz is truly passionate about securing the future of athletes like Choco Mucho and Creamline…Their partnership with Allianz is an important journey towards financial stability,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Creamline stars Michelle Gumabao and Bea De Leon, and Choco Mucho team captain Maddie Madayag said the health plan gave them assurance to continue playing.

Gumabao stated that some basic insurance plans have limited benefits, while emphasizing that eAZy Health also covers financial assistance for death and critical illness.

“It is reassuring that we are covered no matter what happens…I can play more confidently because we have a guarantee that we will be protected and there is help in case of an accident or injury,” the Creamline starter said.

De Leon echoed the same sentiment, saying the insurance plan “allows us to continue doing what we love to do with less worries.”

For Madayag, eAZy Health is “very assuring” since athletes like her, who are prone to physical injuries, have this life protection.

AZPNBL is a life insurance company operating as a subsidiary of Allianz Group in 2016 with the partnership of the Philippine National Bank, which has over 600 branches nationwide.
