A clip of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto responding to a supporter saying “I love you” while he was filing his certificate of candidacy for the 2025 midterm elections went viral.

The millennial mayor formalized his bid to run as an independent candidate for a third term as the city’s chief executive on October 5 at the local office of the Commission on Elections.

His running mate, Pasig City Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski, also formalized his reelection bid.

While reporters were interviewing Vico following his COC filing, a supporter from behind him suddenly exclaimed, “I love you, mayor!”

This made his parents, host Vic Sotto and actress Coney Reyes, smile in the background.

The city chief initially ignored this but responded when she did not stop.

“I love you too, pero quiet muna, ha,” Vico said in her direction and smiled.

He then proceeded to face the reporters.

The moment was caught on video, amusing social media users who posted clips of it online.

It has earned 180,800 heart reactions on TikTok and 33,000 likes on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.

A longer version of the video showed that supporters had been chanting such an expression when Jaworski first entered the local Comelec office, followed by Vico.

Vico referred to his upcoming third term as the “exciting part” of the city administration and looked back on what they had done so far for Pasig.

“The first term, we started a lot of reforms, we introduced a lot of changes in the city. Second term, we started to institutionalize; third term, ito na siguro ‘yung masasabi nating exciting part,” he told reporters before.

“Ang focus natin ngayon ay pagpatuloy mga maganda. Tapos kung may pagkukulang, ay tingnan natin, so expansions of existing programs,” Vico said.

Among the programs he wanted to develop were the pension for the city’s senior citizens and the construction of the new city hall.
