A photo of a motorcycle parked in the middle of a road in Antipolo City earned the attention of the local online community.
Facebook page “Parkeserye,” which uploads reader-submitted photos of “improper parking habits,” on Saturday, March 15 posted an image taken in the provincial capital with the caption:
“Walang bawal sa Antipolo, haha.”
The photo featured a motorcycle that took up one lane on a road meant for vehicular traffic.
A sedan and two other motorcycles can also be spotted by the side of the road.
The post has earned 9,100 likes and reactions, 806 shares and 309 comments so far, with some Filipinos sharing their reactions on the road situation.
“Unahan ng [Robinsons] Antipolo ‘yan. Mali talaga ng driver ‘yan,[karinderia] kasi [‘yang] gilid [niyan]. Mali [‘yung] park [niya] kahit sabihin maluwag [‘yung] kalsada,” a Facebook user wrote.
“Lakas mamarada,” another user commented.
“Kapal naman ng pagmumuka ng may-ari na ‘yan, tibay ng pag-uutak. ‘Yan dapat ang’ di maka-pagmaneho ng motor. Sa pag-park pa lang arogante ang pag-uutak, maka-park lang, walang pakialam,” wrote a different user.
“Ang lawak ng parking! Haha,” another Pinoy said.
Others claimed that authorities have conducted clamping operations in the area.
“Nag-clamping sila [diyan] kanina,” a Facebook user wrote.
Authorities conduct clamping operations against illegally parked vehicles. Wheel clamps are placed on tires to prevent the vehicle from being driven away.
The vehicle is towed and released only when penalties have been paid.
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office said on its website that “no person shall drive or park a motor vehicle upon or along any sidewalk, path or alley not intended for vehicular traffic or parking.”
Moreover, the agency said that “no person shall drive his motor vehicle in such a manner as to obstruct or impede the passage of any vehicle, nor, while discharging or taking on passengers or loading or unloading freight, obstruct the free passage of other vehicles on the highway.”
