Prolific import Eugene Phelps scored a go-ahead layup at the buzzer to lift the Phoenix Fuel Masters to a pulsating 95-93 win over the Alaska Aces in the Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup on Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Phelps, who finished with 29 points and 14 rebounds, drove to the basket and made the game-winning play as time expired to rescue Phoenix from a fourth quarter collapse and deal Alaska its 10th straight loss dating back to last conference.

Before Phelps’ shot, Phoenix was on the verge of losing the game after allowing Alaska to score 10 straight points to come back form a nine-point deficit and take an 88-79 lead with 1:11 left.

Both teams exchanged big shot after another, with Chris Banchero tying the game at 93-all with a tough putback with just 21 seconds left.

Phelps went on to deliver the clutch layup that handed the Fuel Masters their second straight win in the tournament.
