Quezon City cops arrest acid splashing suspect.

A suspected mentally challenged man, was taken in by Quezon City police operatives after he was found to be in possession of what appeared to be acid contained in plastic PET bottles.

Known also in his neighborhood as Alias Budak, the man is the suspect in the weekend acid splashing incident at a footbridge crossing on A. Bonifacio Avenue in Barangay Manresa.

Speaking with a quaint Waray accent, the suspect, who had since gained the monicker Boy Asido, was rather incoherent when interrogated by law enforcers, dropping big names when asked about his identity.

In his bag were three bottles containing the suspect fluid, which when tested, caused metal to hiss and emit smoke – telltale properties that may be attributed to an acidic substance.

Boy Asido was picked up with the help of a tip provided by a concerned citizen, who related that he tends to lose his mind in anger when he encounters a mother-and-child on the street, but apparently doesn’t exhibit such a deviant behavior with other people: “He tends to throw things when he sees a mother and child.”

He was reportedly a patient at the state mental institution but was abandoned by his family because he had become dependent on substance abuse.
