Abella named DFA undersecretary, Roque concurrent rights adviser

MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATE – 1:12 p.m.) Former presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella has been named undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The appointment, dated October 27, 2017 and signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, was released by Malacañang on Thursday, November 23.

Meanwhile, Abella’s successor as Duterte’s spokesman, lawyer Herminio Harry L. Roque Jr., was named concurrent presidential adviser on human rights.

The new appointment of Roque, who replaced Abella late last month, was dated November 22, Wednesday.
