Actor Kanye Avendaño thanked his “Guryon” co-star, Zaijian Jaranilla, for calling out a member of the press who asked an inappropriate question during the film’s media conference.
“Guryon” is a family-oriented advocacy film directed by Lester Dimaranan. It uses kite-making and kite-flying as metaphors for life’s challenges and explores the bond between orphaned brothers.
The film stars Zaijan as Nestor, a dedicated breadwinner and Kanye as hisyounger brother. Xyriel Manabat is also part of the cast.
The cast attended a media conference on Saturday, October 17, in Quezon City, where a member of the press asked Kanye, a 12-year-old actor, about joining Vivamax.
Vivamax, now known as VMX, is a streaming platform that offers adult-only films.
A reporter asked Kanye about the other projects he has appeared in. The young actor responded that he was part of the teen series “Ang Mutya ng Section E,” which airs on Viva One.
“Ah, under Viva?” the reporter asked, and Kanye confirmed.
“Ah, okay. ‘Pag lumaki ka ba, mag Vi-vivamax ka?” the reporter continued.
“Hindi po,” Kanye replied, immediately shaking his head.
Laughter could be heard, but Zaijan stepped in to remind the press that his co-star is still a minor.
“Underage pa po si Kanye, kaya ingat po sa mga ganoong tanong,” Zaijan said.
“Oo, pasensya na, joke lang ‘yon,” the reporter responded.
Kanye later posted a video of the incident on TikTok, thanking his older co-star for stepping in and coming to his defense.
“Maraming salamat po talaga, kuya Zaijan Jaranillan,” Kanye wrote with a folded hands emoji.

“Good job, Zaijan, for standing up on behalf of the guy. Tama lang, we should call them out right away,” another said.
A media conference is an event where journalists are invited to ask questions about a project being promoted and where announcements may also be made.
In this case, the event was held to promote Kanye and Zaijian’s latest film, “Guryon.”
