“Nepal” landed on the top trends list of the X (formerly Twitter) platform on Thursday morning as its candidate is making buzz amid the 72nd edition of Miss Universe.
Nepal is being represented by 22-year-old nurse and business developer Jane Dipika Garrett, who is half-American. She is dubbed as the first plus-size Miss Universe candidate.
Jane said she is representing “all women” as a curvy woman “who doesn’t follow certain beauty standards.”
“I think there’s not one way to be beautiful, every woman is beautiful just as they are,” she previously told HOLA! Spain.
“I think success varies depending on each person. For me, to be on this stage and to speak my truth is something that matters a lot. A few years ago, I was a very insecure person and had very low self-esteem. Now, I love myself, and that’s success to me,” Jane added.
Her country immediately landed on the trending list of X following her introduction in the preliminary competition of Miss Universe 2023.

Jane is an advocate of body positivity, hormonal health and mental health for women.
She made history as the first plus-size model to clinch the Miss Universe Nepal title in her home country.
Meanwhile, Michelle Dee of Makati City is representing the Philippines in Miss Universe 2023.
