MANILA – Following Cebu Pacific’s move to cancel flights for two days running, Philippine Airlines announced late Tuesday it was also cancelling flights to Naga and Legazpi cities owing to Mayon’s continuing activity and warnings of an imminent hazardous eruption.
In its advisory, PAL said that “due to the effects of the eruption of Mayon Volcano and the Alert Level (4) in place,” the following flights of the Lucio Tan-led airline will be cancelled for two days, Wednesday and Thursday:
1. PR2921 Manila – Legazpi (Jan24-25)
2. PR2922 Legazpi – Manila (Jan24-25)
3. PR2927 Cebu – Legazpi (Jan24-25)
4. PR2928 Legazpi – Cebu (Jan24-25)
PAL said it shall issue regular updates for the flying public on the situation in Legazpi, Albay.
It assured passengers that it is in “close coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology in securing information on the seismic activity and its effects on flight path.”
Affected passengers have the option to rebook/refund their flights within 30 days from original flight date, with penalties and charges waived. For flight info, passengers may call PAL Hotline (02) 855 – 8888, log on to www.philippineairlines.com or visit the nearest PAL ticketing office or partner travel agent.
