Environmental advocate Nadine Lustre renewed her support for the Masungi Georeserve Foundation in fighting for the forest’s future.

Masungi on Monday afternoon uploaded photos of Nadine’s trip to the park on its social media accounts. She was dubbed as its “honorary park ranger.”

The photos showed the award-winning actress’s participation in different activities and her waving the Masungi flag that bears the hashtag #SaveMasungi.

“Our honorary park ranger and MMFF Best Actress Nadine Lustre (@nadine) participated in tree nurturing activities at the Masungi Geopark Project, including weeding out grasses and mulching,” the foundation said.

In the post, Masungi said that Nadine visited to check how the geopark was doing and throw her support amid the recent challenges it has faced.

“Nadine wanted to see how Masungi was doing amid our challenges and came to show support. She also shared with us her journey to a vegan lifestyle, which she is embarking on for the welfare of animals and the planet. Nadine is one of our women allies in fighting for Masungi’s future,” it said.

In the comments section, Nadine’s fans expressed how proud they were of her advocacy for the environment.

“So proud of you Nadine,” a fan said on Instagram.

“She’s really an inspiration,” another Instagram user commented with heart-eyes emoji.

In December 2021, Nadine also expressed solidarity with the calls to protect the country’s mangroves that protect residents from the onslaught of strong typhoons.

Mangroves serve as a natural buffer to storm surges, thus limiting the impact of heavy winds brought by typhoons.

In the same post, meanwhile, Masungi also explained the importance of supporting its reforestation initiative in some of its denuded areas in the area.

Nadine also participated in this activity during her visit.

“The Masungi Geopark Project is our larger reforestation initiative in denuded areas around the Masungi Georeserve. It is in much need of support against many threats to its conservation. #SaveMasungi,” the foundation said.

Those interested can support the movement by signing the petition to call on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Environment Secretary Ma. Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga to stop the Bureau of Corrections from its planned transfer of facilities.
