What to watch in October 2026

October brings a packed slate of movies and streaming titles, from supernatural teen dramas and horror stories to action-packed thrillers, romances, documentaries and returning fan favorites.

For moviegoers, the month offers a mix of big-screen releases, including the Tom Cruise-led “Digger,” the “Street Fighter” adaptation and “Clayface,” while Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility” gets a new screen treatment later in the month.

On streaming, viewers can look forward to new and returning series on Prime Video, Netflix and Disney+, including the second season of “The Terminal List,” “Helluva Boss” Season 3, “The Kardashians” Season 8 and “Nobody Wants This” Season 3.

Big-screen releases

October kicks off with “Digger,” which opened on October 2. Directed by Alejandro Iñárritu, the film stars Tom Cruise alongside Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons.

The story follows “the most powerful man in the world” as he embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he has unleashed destroys everything.

On October 7, “The Social Reckoning” arrives in cinemas. Directed by Aaron Sorkin, the film stars Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, Bill Burr and Jeremy Strong. Inspired by true events, it follows young Facebook engineer Frances Haugen as she teams up with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz to expose the social network’s closely guarded secrets.

Also opening that day is the horror film “Other Mommy,” directed by Rob Savage and starring Jessica Chastain, Jay Duplass and Arabella Olivia Clark. The film follows a young girl who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home that looks uncannily like her mother.

Fans of the classic video game franchise can catch “Street Fighter” on October 14. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film follows Ryu and Ken Masters as they are recruited by Chun-Li for the next World Warrior Tournament, where a brutal battle conceals a deadly conspiracy.

“Clayface” follows on October 21. Directed by James Watkins, the film tells the story of Matt Hagen, a Hollywood leading man whose life changes after he is horribly disfigured and undergoes an experimental treatment that restores his appearance while affecting his grip on reality.

Rounding out the month’s theatrical releases is “Sense and Sensibility,” opening October 28 exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas. Directed by Georgia Oakley, the new adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Esmé Creed-Miles, Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw.

For fans of thrillers, horror and the supernatural
Streaming platforms are also leaning into darker fare this month.

Netflix’s “Balaraw: Blood Island” premieres October 29, with Janine Gutierrez, Charlie Dizon and Agot Isidro starring in Rae Red’s film about a woman searching for her missing mother on a sinister island.

The streamer also has “Below,” arriving October 8, about a mysterious sea creature terrorizing a coastal town, while “Haunted Hotel” returns for a second season on October 9.

Over on Disney+, “Coven Academy” premieres October 2. Created by Tim Federle, the supernatural teen drama follows three teenage witches and their warlock peers at an elite magic boarding school in New Orleans, where supernatural conflicts and forbidden romance collide.

Prime Video’s horror lineup includes “Carrie,” premiering October 7. The series follows Carrie White as she navigates high school bullying and the pressures of the social-media age while mysterious telekinetic powers emerge.
Action, espionage and high-stakes adventures
Prime Video has several options for viewers looking for action.

“The Terminal List” returns for Season 2 on October 21, with Chris Pratt reprising his role as Navy SEAL Commander James Reece. Based on Jack Carr’s second novel, “True Believer,” the season takes Reece on a globe-trotting journey involving a conspiracy stretching from Moscow to Langley and reaching into his family history.

“In The Grey,” arriving October 15, comes from writer-director Guy Ritchie. The movie follows a covert team of elite operatives tasked with recovering a billion-dollar fortune stolen by a ruthless despot. What begins as a heist turns into a fight involving strategy, deception and survival.

“Masterplan,” meanwhile, arrives October 16. The heist film follows a legendary thief who recruits two young specialists to steal the Mona Lisa, only to reveal that they are his long-lost children.

Netflix also has “The Diplomat” Season 4, premiering October 15, while “100 Days of Deception” arrives October 10 as part of the platform’s Asian lineup.

Romances, relationships and second chances

For lighter viewing, October brings several romance-focused titles.

Prime Video’s “Love in Disguise,” premiering October 19, follows a former special forces officer turned detective who disguises herself as a man to infiltrate the security team of a conglomerate heir suspected of murder. Their investigation takes an unexpected turn when her identity is revealed.

“Love of Your Life,” arriving October 14, follows Maya after a chance encounter with Charlie sets her on a sweeping romantic journey that is unexpectedly upended.

Netflix also brings back “Nobody Wants This” for Season 3 on October 22, with Joanne and Noah taking their relationship to the next level amid family drama and other complications.

“Take Charge of My Heart,” also on Netflix, follows a corporate heir with an artificial heart who meets a woman who is “literally electric.”

Comedy and competition

Those looking for something lighter can turn to Prime Video’s “LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines” Season 2, premiering October 30.

Vice Ganda returns as host as 10 comedians compete to make one another laugh while keeping straight faces themselves. The last comedian standing wins P1 million.

Netflix also has “Is It Cake? Halloween: Season 2,” arriving October 9, where six cake artists create Halloween-themed treats designed to fool the judges.

For Filipino viewers, Prime Video is also bringing “Drags to Riches” on October 9. The movie follows Andre and Troye, who force a drag queen named Jonas to impersonate his long-lost straight twin as part of a scheme involving their homophobic father.

Documentaries and music

Music fans have several documentaries to look forward to.

Disney+ will stream “Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger” exclusively in the Philippines beginning October 9. The film chronicles Liam and Noel Gallagher’s reunion tour, Oasis Live ’25, and features rehearsal, backstage and onstage access, as well as their first joint interviews in more than 20 years.

Disney+ will also premiere “KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS” on October 16. The documentary takes viewers inside the global girl group’s new era through unseen footage, fan videos and interviews, exploring KATSEYE’s journey from “Dream Academy” to global pop success.

Prime Video’s “Doubters to Believers Liverpool FC: Klopp’s Era” arrives October 16. The series looks at Jürgen Klopp’s final season and nine-year tenure at Liverpool, featuring interviews about his coaching evolution, trust in young talent and emotional departure.

Anime and Asian titles

Anime fans have several returning series to add to their watchlists.

Netflix premieres “The Ramparts of Ice” Season 2 on October 1, followed by “Blue Box” Season 2 and “Ranma1/2” Season 3 on October 4. “Blue Box” will also be available with a Filipino dub.

Prime Video, meanwhile, launches “The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom” on October 3, an adventure fantasy about seven brothers who serve as knight commanders while uncovering secrets about their late father.

“Final Table,” premiering October 24 on Prime Video, follows four chefs and a field of competitors vying to become the best Korean chef alive, while Netflix’s Asian lineup includes “Take Charge of My Heart,” “100 Days of Deception” and “Did Someone Happen to Mention Me?”

More returning favorites

October also brings new seasons of several established shows.

“The Kardashians” returns for Season 8 on Disney+ on October 8, with Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner navigating new relationships, personal changes and their businesses.

Prime Video’s “Helluva Boss” returns for Season 3 on October 14, following Blitzo and the I.M.P. crew through more chaotic adventures across Earth and Hell.

Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This” returns October 22, while “The Diplomat” returns October 15.

For fans of post-apocalyptic stories, Prime Video closes out the month with “Apocalipsis Z: New World” on October 30. The second installment in the “Apocalypse Z” saga takes the story to the Canary Islands, where a mission for vital supplies becomes a desperate fight for survival.
