Did Binibining Pilipinas unfollow Miss Grand International on Instagram?

Several pageant fans noticed this move after the Miss Grand International 2022 coronation night concluded on Tuesday evening.

Philippines’ bet Roberta Tamondong finished early after advancing to the Top 20 finalists of the competition.

The event took place in West Java, Indonesia. It was also streamed live on YouTube for online audiences.

Brazil’s Isabella Menin was crowned Miss Grand International 2022, besting 67 other candidates.

Menin succeeded Vietnam’s Nguyễn Thúc Thùy Tiên who was the reigning queen in 2021.

After the four-hour pageant, some eagle-eyed pageant pages and fans noticed that Binibining Pilipinas, the local contest where Tamondong won her bid to represent the country, is no longer following Miss Grand International (MGI)’s page on Instagram.

Powerhouseph, a Facebook community page dedicated to pageant news, also posted a screenshot that showed the Thailand-based organization is now being followed by another local beauty pageant—Miss World Philippines.

“Ayun lang lipat bakod na,” the post reads.

A cursory check by Interaksyon showed that the MGI’s page is no longer among the following list of Binibining Pilipinas’ official Instagram account.

MGI’s handle, however, can be found in one of Miss World Philippines’ following list.

Miss World Philippines is also following other Instagram accounts of international competitions that are associated with the Miss World charity organization.

Fans then speculated that Miss World Philippines will now handle Miss Grand International franchise after years of being with Binibining Pilipinas.

Nawat Itsaragrisil or P’Nawat, the owner and president of Miss Grand International franchise, already announced in a previous Facebook Live that the beauty contest will make its debut next year under a different organizer.

This development was announced via Grand Pageant’s Instagram Page last August.

“According to a recent Facebook Live by P’Nawat, Miss Grand Philippines will make its debut next year, which will be organized by someone you will recognize,” the post reads.

“Roberta Tamondong will be the last Binibining Grand International,” the post added.

Despite not winning a crown, Tamondong won the hearts of Filipino viewers.

The hashtag #RobertaTamondong reached the trending topics of Twitter Philippines as her supporters continued to cheer for the Filipina beauty.

As of writing, the hashtag garnered 21,200 tweets under its belt.
