The keyword for “Philippines women’s national football team” garnered an “all-time high” search interest worldwide on the popular search engine on Wednesday.
The Filipinas won against New Zealand’s Football Ferns with a score of 1-0 at the Wellington Regional Stadium.
This was also the first time that the country’s national team entered the prestigious football league.
Keywords related to the game and the hashtag #LabanFilipinas quickly landed on the trending topics of Twitter Philippines and Facebook.

The Twitter account of Google Trends also announced that the search interest for “Philippines women’s national football team” reached a “global all-time high” after the feat.

Members of Filipinas wore a white jersey uniform in contrast to New Zealand’s team members who wore black jerseys.
Filipinas’ Sarina Bolden was the one who scored the country’s first-ever goal halfway through the game against Wellington on that day.
The Philippines is set to face Norway on Sunday, July 30.
Earlier this month, Filipinos also gained global attention on Google Trends because of Taylor Swift.
The American singer’s name came scored a 100% on Google Philippines from July 2 to 8.
This data came amid the ticket sale for the Singapore stop of Taylor’s “Eras Tour” and the release of her “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” album.
