Philippines’ Michelle Dee earned praises for her new strut during rehearsals of the 72nd Miss Universe competition.

Some pageant pages on Wednesday shared a video that showed Michelle rehearsing her pageant walk and introduction on stage.

Missosology, a long-time dedicated account for international pageants, shared a glimpse of the Makati City beauty’s rehearsal session.

“Miss Universe Philippines 2023, Michelle Dee preview onstage. What do you think?” the page posted.

It has since garnered 5,900 reactions, 425 comments and 305 shares on Facebook.

Pageant Talk, a local fan page community, expressed support for Michelle.

“Laban na laban, MMD. Michelle Marquez Dee, FILIPINAS!” the post reads.

It also uploaded a video that showed Michelle’s rehearsal for her introduction to the audience.

“What a week it has been! Bukas na ang prelims na hindi libre! Eme HAHAHAHAHA Anyways, you can still vote for @michelledee at the Miss Universe App!” Pageant Talk said.

In the comments section, several Filipinos praised Michelle for her pasarela, saying how “classy” and different it is compared to other candidates.

“Her walk is not easy to imitate,” a Facebook user said.

“Not the usual pageant pasarela, but this one was classy and regal,” another Facebook user said.

“Kakaiba ka sa mga ibang kandidata kakaiba ang patama mo,” a viewer said on Facebook.

Some Facebook users also described her walk as “palaban.”

“Wow slay walk…. very clean and so palaban talaga,” a Facebook user said with a heart emoji.

Michelle’s previous pasarela called the “snake walk” was a hot topic among local pageant fans on social media even after she won the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) competition.

This walking style involved the beauty queen strutting in an “S” pattern onstage while serving a fierce look to the audience.

Michelle’s pageant coach pageant coach Ian Mendajar previously explained that her “S” walk was a tribute to the latter’s mother—Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez.

“Michelle’s gown routine is inspired by our Miss International 1979, Michelle’s Mom, Melanie Marquez. The ‘S’ walk after her 2nd establishment is one of Melanie’s signature walks during her modeling days while her final pose is inspired by her Mom’s supermodel poses,” Ian said on Instagram back then.
