BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A Nigerian studying nursing at a Baguio City school died after he was hit by a taxi that then attempted to flee Tuesday.

The Baguio police said Oreoluwa Tpe Oyinyole, 29, a student at AMA College-Baguio, was walking along Magsaysay Avenue when the taxi cab driven by Julio Goloyogo Balangue, which had come from a gasoline station and was descending on the opposite lane, hit the Nigerian.

As Oyinyloe sprawled on the pavement, Balangue accelerated towards the junction of Magsaysay Avenue and Buhagan Road where he collided with another vehicle.

Lower Magsaysay barangay captain Debbie Saddot Banagui rushed the Nigerian to the Pines Doctor’s Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.
