Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach expressed excitement for the Philippine bet of Miss Universe 2023 as the prestigious global beauty pageant kicks off its competition days before the much-anticipated coronation.
The Miss Universe titleholder on Saturday, November 4 shared an update from the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) organization which announced that Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee has the top spot for the pageant’s “Voice for Change” advocacy video.
“Salamat, Pilipinas! Thank you to all the supporters, pageant fans, bloggers, FB groups, queens, talents, influencers, and general public who have been continuously helping,” MUPH said on Instagram.
“Through Bayanihan, we have achieved the top spot for Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Marquez Dee in the Voice for Change category,” it added.

The org said that Michelle still needed to secure the top rank as Miss Philippines in the fan voting so she could be assured of a spot in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Pia in her Instagram broadcast channel “Life updates with Pia” shared the IG post and urged her fellow subscribers to support the Philippine bet.
“Ang lakas natin!! Nakakakilig! [smiling face emoji] Can’t wait to see the outfits, the photos next to the candidates, the interviews, the behind the scenes moments… the natcos [national costume], the gowns, the crowning moment!! Aaaaahh!!” the beauty queen said on the IG channel with grinning face emojis.
Pia also referenced lyrics of Taylor Swift’s “Our Song” in her comments.
“And remember, as Queen Taylor said, people throw rocks at things that shine!! But we don’t bash back because we let the work speak for itself. Confident tayo. And Michelle shiiiines!!” she added with emojis of a disco ball, fireworks and a sparkling heart.
Michelle is currently in El Salvador where she will compete with over 80 delegates in the hopes of winning the country’s fifth Miss Universe crown.
Miss Universe is the most prestigious global beauty pageant which celebrates women and lets them create an impact on their communities and fans around the world.
