Parokya ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee was transferred to a regular hospital room after months of staying in the intensive care unit.
Gab has been in the ICU after he was diagnosed with lymphoma-induced pneumonia.
“Happy siya (Gab) dahil nakalipat na siya sa regular room! Isa-isa na tinatanggal yung mga tubes na nakakabit sa katawan niya,” the band said in a Facebook post.
“Excited parang bata, nag-gi-gitara habang papunta sa regular room! Konti nalang at makakalabas na rin siya ng hospital!” the band said.
In a video shared by the band, Gab was seen strumming his guitar as he was being transferred to his new room.
“May cancer pa rin siya, so tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang laban para makasama na namin siya on the stage soon! Laban pa Gab! Kayang-kaya yan!” Parokya ni Edgar added.
In a separate post, the band expressed their gratitude for the public’s support for Gab.
“Maraming-maraming salamat ulit sa mga tumulong, nagdasal, at namahagi ng good vibes para sa recovery ni Gab!” the band said.
Fundraising concerts
Parokya ni Edgar, along with other OPM artists will hold a series of concerts to raise funds for Gab’s hospitalization needs.
On March 3, Parokya ni Edgar will share the stage with December Avenue and Rouge for “Para Sa’yo: A Benefit Concert.” This will be held at the Amoranto Sports Stadium in Quezon City.
Following this, the Parokya ni Edgar will stage a fundraising concert called “Resbak Para Kay Gab” on March 4 at the Block, Mandala Park, Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong City.
The lineup includes Rivermaya, The Itchyworms, Ebe Dancel, 6 Cycle Mind, Gracenote, and Kamikazee.
Parokya ni Edgar and other music artists have also launched several fundraising initiatives for Gab such as selling clothes and memorabilia.
